Coach John Coach Nnamdi John revitalises the Vaal by inviting Former Bafana Bafana star Matthew Booth to visit Flair Feet Stars FC The super mom and dads of Flair Feet Stars FC (FFC) recently braved the chilly weather and took their future superstars to a clinic where the Former Bafana Bafana star Matthew Booth coached them for the morning at their Curro Vanderbijlpark home ground.
The soccer star reflected on how some great players came from the Vaal and he too had some fond memories of playing here. He not only engaged the young soccer stars of FFC and shared his expertise he gave the moral boost to persevere. A great gesture by the team was an autographed portrait by all the players as a gift to Booth. Probably that portrait will fetch a cool lump sum of money in the near future. Booth also autographed memorabilia for those who were present. The presentation was led by the team's captain Michael Ferreira flanked by junior captains MJ Francis and Marco Dacina.
Ferreira thanked Booth for visiting the team and for motivating them. In his own words, he said: "on behalf of the Flair Feet Stars FC team, I want to express our sincere gratitude for visiting us. Your presence truly meant the world to us, and we can't thank you enough for the memories you've created with our club. As a captain, it's always an honour to have a soccer star as you come and share your experiences with our team. Your encouragement and wisdom have inspired us to work harder and aim higher in our games. We will always cherish the moments we spent with you and the advice you gave us," said Ferreira. It must be said that FFS head coach and technical director, Coach Nnamdi John, who has a huge heart, passion for education and sports, discipline for youth said that it’s an honour to work with future talent and having Booth visit exposed the players to professional football.
"We wanted to expose our players to a professional soccer star to give them a glimpse of what being a star feels and looks like. We want our soccer players to rub shoulders with big names so that they can see themselves like stars and have an idea of what they could be and what they can achieve," said Coach John. He added that he and Booth go a long way. "I chose Matthew because of his love for children and the game and his professionalism. We have worked together as coaches at my previous club. He was my assistant coach, and he is a close friend of mine. His sons also trained under me. Matthew's visit has also left a lasting impact on our team,” said coach John adding that more soccer stars will visit the team over the next few months. Booth said he was honoured to be invited by the club.
