Developing Story - Sheba has been euthenised! Community of Walkerville is SAFE!
A male and female tiger escape in Walkerville Fruit Farms. The male tiger was captured quickly, but the female tiger Sheba is still roaming around.
Sheba is very dangerous and attacked a reindeer, two dogs, a pig, and a worker at 11 pm on Saturday. The worker's scream alerted people, and they assisted him.
The Search crews are busy searching for her as she makes her way to the Walkerville Fruit Farms "Koppie" where there is some wildlife.
It was an attempt to break into the property by cutting wires. The criminals did not know that there were two tigers on the other side of the wire fence.
The search was called off for the night. They will resume at 4:30 Monday morning. Hopefully, there will be a sighting of her during the night.
The search crew is busy surveilling from the sky, SAPS and other teams are searching for her on Monday 16th, 2023. There is an unconfirmed sighting of her during the night. They have sent members of the search crew to scout out the area.
The search crew has not found Sheba as the dawn sets on day two of the search. Teams are still on foot searching for Sheba.
Late afternoon she was sighted via drone at a waterhole at approx 19:30. The tracking team on foot saw paw prints around the water hole at about 20:00. The bush was too thick and too risky for them to enter.
The plan for the night of 16 January will be to put a carcass close to the waterhole. In this carcass will be some tranquilizer medication to make the capture more effective. There is a chopper out at the moment flying with a thermal imaging device.
Confirmed sighting Sheba grabbed some meat outside of her home enclosure and bolted.
It is day four 17 January 2023, and Sheba is close to the vicinity of her enclosure. At 4 am this morning, she was in the enclosure but unfortunately, no one could close the gate. Hopefully, today she will be captured and be safe.
NEWS JUST IN!
INCIDENT REPORT
According to Gresham Mandy the activity of Sheba during the night.
On Wednesday morning around 1:55 am reports were received of activity on the Arboretum Farm in Walkers Fruit Farms. This location is 2 Km from where the Tiger Sheba was last known to be roaming. She had entered a farm area with six dwellings with families living there. Sheba attacked and killed one of the domestic animals and a call was made for urgent assistance. Members responded to the scene and began to track the Tiger. The owner of the Tiger was present and she was located near one of the houses on the farm. Due to the terrain and area, it was not possible to contain her or secure her safety. At 3:45 am the decision was made to euthanize her while it was still safe to do so. Unfortunately, at that moment in time darting her was not an option. Sheba had moved during the night across the hills to the West side of Fruit Farms bringing her close to livestock and others residents in a more densely populated area. This was not an easy decision to make at the time and the safety of the community of Walkers Fruit Farms was a priority.
