On Saturday, 6 May 2023, the Executive Mayor, Alderman Peter Teixeira hosted a Let’s Walk with the Mayor event in Sicelo, Ward 10. The 5-kilometer fun walk was initiated, after a fruitful IDP engagement with the communities throughout Midvaal. The Municipality hosts such events to bring communities together to celebrate our diversity and for a good course.
The event will simultaneously bring social services closer to the people. Representatives from various government departments such as SAPS and other stakeholders were present. The winner of the 5-Kilometer fun walk was Teboho Qohe, Thabang Mokena followed after him in second place, and Katlego Nkwane came in third place. Siyabonga Mploangwi came in fourth place. Ruth Revai made us proud to come in fifth place, and Ntokozo Kondile came in sixth.

Meyerton Athletics Club, with the Mayor's Office, had a very successful morning. Young and old participated in the 5k walk with the Mayor.
