Vote of No Confidence Fails to Remove Emfuleni Mayor Amid Allegations of Poor Service Delivery and Governance
This Motion of No Confidence meeting against the Mayor was sponsored by Pan Africanist (PAC), New Horizon Movement (NHM), and Vaal Party (VP), but was unsuccessful.

On 28 March 2023, a Vote of no Confidence Caucas meeting was held against the Mayor of Emfuleni, Cllr Sipho Radebe.


This Motion of No Confidence meeting against the Mayor was sponsored by Pan Africanist (PAC), New Horizon Movement (NHM), and Vaal Party (VP), but was  unsuccessful.

The votes were as follows:

Against = 41

For = 33

Abstained = 0

Spoiled. = 14


Spoil votes came from the EFF which did not cast its votes in this Caucus meeting.


According to the DA media release, the DA votes went to the removal of the Cllr Radebe. The DA states the reasons for doing so;


    1. Failure to render undisrupted Service delivery

    2. Refusal to maximize Revenue collection even when the DA has pointed them in the right direction and advised of noncollection of millions owed to the municipality, R4,5 million to be precise of 8 houses in Vanderbijlpark. 

    3. Lack of political will to uphold the dignity of Emfuleni residents by allowing Sewer spillages, potholes, prolonged water, and electricity outages, non-collection of waste, and illegal dumps. 

    4. Failure to fix incorrect billing 

    5. Failure to resolve disputes adequately,

    6. Indecisive executive leadership in the municipality. 

    7. Disregard for the Rule of Law


Cllr Radebe remains in office as Mayor of Emfuleni.
